Periodontal (Gum) Treatment

Periodontitis is a set of inflammatory diseases affecting the tissues that surround and support the teeth. It involves progressive loss of the bone around the teeth, and if left untreated, can lead to the loosening and subsequent loss of teeth. Periodontal disease has also been associated with other chronic inflammatory conditions, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. For those patients with specific forms of periodontal disease, a deeper cleaning, or Scaling and Root Planing, may be recommended to prevent further progression of the disease.
